M I N U T E S

A meeting of the Board of School Trustees of the Vigo County School Corporation was held at the Vigo County School Corporation Administration Building, 686 Wabash Avenue, Terre Haute, Indiana on Monday, September 22, 2008 at 7:00 P.M.

The following Board Members were present: Mrs. Jackie Lower, Mr. Guille Cox,

Dr. Joseph Minnis, Mr. Paul Lockhart, Ms. Alpa Patel, Mr. Mel Burks, and Mr. Gene Shike.

Pledge of Allegiance

Boy Scout Troop #339 led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Memoriam

Ms. Alpa Patel presented a Resolution of Memoriam for former school bus driver Brenda Dowell.

Consent Agenda

Dr. Minnis moved for approval of the Consent Agenda. Mr. Burks seconded the motion.

The following Consent Agenda items were approved:

New Business

Personnel Report

Mr. Tanoos presented the Personnel Report.

Mr. Lockhart moved for approval of the Personnel Report as presented. Ms. Patel seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Proposed Reallocation of Bond Refinancing Funds

Considerable discussion took place regarding the Proposed Reallocation of Bond Refinancing Funds. Discussion included the timeline for expenditures, other potential uses for the refinancing funds, Capital Projects allocations, and budget for the Phase II West Vigo Middle School project.

Mr. Cox moved for approval of the proposed Reallocation of Bond Refinancing Funds as presented in the Board Packet. Mr. Lockhart seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Information and Proposals from Board Members and Superintendent Tanoos

Mr. Lockhart thanked the South Vigo Spectra Class for attending the meeting this evening.

Mrs. Lower commended the counselors at Terre Haute South Vigo High School for receiving the Indiana Gold star School Counseling Award in 2008. She suggested that this might be brought back to the Board as a Spotlight in the near future.

Mr. Tanoos commented that he would like for the Board to review the Vigo County School Corporation Aims and Goals for 2008-2009. He stated he would like to have them on the Agenda as a discussion item for the October 27^th Board Meeting.

Ms. Patel thanked the administration and teachers for the support given to students during ISTEP week.
