Information and
Proposals from Board Members and Deputy Superintendent Goeller
Dr. Minnis noted that it is his understanding that the State Legislature recently passed a law allowing matching funds to be made for donations up to $25,000 to an Education Foundation. He requested information regarding this be brought to the Board at the next Board Meeting.
Mr. Cox inquired about the approximate number of left turns our school busses make, and noted that it is his understanding that left turns cause a considerable amount of wasted gas. He requested that the administration look into this study and report back to the Board.
Mrs. Lower inquired if Kelly Services will require all substitute teachers to attend an AIDS In-service each year. Mr. Orr replied that this is a state mandated requirement.
Mrs. Lower asked if retired teachers would have any priority with Kelly Services when hiring substitutes. Mr. Orr replied that licensed teachers would be considered first.
Dr. Goeller noted that she is sitting in for Superintendent Tanoos this evening while he is attending a conference. She said that she and other staff members attended the Mayor’s reception for guests from our sister city Tajami, Japan on Sunday.
