M I N U T E S
A meeting of the Board of School Trustees of the Vigo County School Corporation was held at the Vigo County School Corporation Administration Building, 686 Wabash Avenue, Terre Haute, Indiana on July 9, 2007 at 7:00 P.M.
The following Board Members were present: Mr. Paul Lockhart, Ms. Alpa Patel, Mr. Mel Burks, Mr. Gene Shike, Mrs. Jackie Lower, Mr. Guille Cox, and Dr. Joseph Minnis.

Dr. Karen Goeller led the Pledge of Allegiance.

Citizen Comments
Comments were received from Mr. Donald Hyde.
Spotlight
The four automobile dealers who have donated cars for use by our students in the Driver Education program were recognized. Those honored were Brian Dorsett, Tom Lisella, Robert Thompson, and Michael Tom. Sycamore Chevrolet-Nissan, Thompson’s Honda, and Vigo Dodge each provided two cars and Dorsett Mitsubishi provided one car for use in the program. Mr. Robert Thompson and Mr. Michael Tom were in attendance.
Consent Agenda
Mr. Cox moved for approval of the Consent Agenda. Dr. Minnis seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.

Personnel Report
Mr. Tanoos presented the Personnel Report.
Mr. Lockhart moved for approval. Ms. Patel seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Sale of School
Buses
Mr. Tanoos stated that bids were received and opened on May 24, 2007 for the bid of bus units. He recommended that a contract be awarded to Midwest Transit, Inc., as follows:
a. Nine 78 passenger rear engine medium duty transit school buses
b. Six 60 passenger forward powered medium duty transit special education
school buses.
He noted that the total award of all buses is $1,502,577, and recommended that all other
bids be rejected. (See Proceedings)
Following discussion, Dr. Minnis moved for approval. Ms. Patel seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Bid for Cafeteria Supplies and Food
Mr. Tanoos stated that bids were received and opened on May 14, 2007 for cafeteria supplies and food. He recommended that cafeteria items 100112 through 970000 for the bid period August 1, 2007 through July 30, 2008 be awarded to the following vendors:
B & B Foods Fox River Foods
Beasley Foods Prairie Farms
Commercial Foods Wabash Foodservice
Earthgrains/Sara Lee
Dr. Minnis moved for approval. Mr. Cox seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously. (See Proceedings)

Comments were received from Mr. Donald Hyde and Mrs. Sarah Dillon.
Information
from Superintendent Tanoos and Board Members
Mr. Tanoos noted that the process of negotiations is now under way, as well as preparation for the beginning of school next month.
Dr. Minnis stated that the Vigo County Public Library Board is in need of another Board Member. Mr. Bill Bruce commented that he would be willing to serve in that position. Dr. Minnis then moved that Mr. Bill Bruce be appointed to represent the school corporation on the Vigo County Public Library Board. Mr. Burks seconded the motion. The motion passed unanimously.
Mr. Burks suggested, and other Board Members agreed, that someone represent the Vigo County School Corporation in New York when Anthony Thompson is inducted into the Football Hall of Fame. Mr. Burks then suggested that Mr. Tanoos, as Superintendent, be the individual to represent the school corporation.
